![]() The real thing is not the goal, the real thing is the beauty of the movement. The real thing is not reaching, the real thing is the journey. Remember, the real thing is the journey, the very traveling. It is so beautiful, why bother about the goal? And if you are too bothered about the goal, you will miss the journey, and the journey is life - the goal can only be death. ~ Osho To laugh is to risk appearing a fool,
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental To reach out to another is to risk involvement, To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self To place your ideas and dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss To love is to risk not being loved in return, To hope is to risk despair, To try is to risk to failure. But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing is nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, But he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or live. Chained by his servitude he is a slave who has forfeited all freedom. Only a person who risks is free. ~ Anonymous ![]() Now Autumn's fire burns slowly along the woods, And day by day the dead leaves fall and melt, And night by night the monitory blast Wails in the key-hole, tell how it pass'd O'er empty fields, or upland solitudes, Or grim wide wave; and now the power is felt Of melancholy, tenderer in its moods Than any joy indulgent Summer dealt. ~William Allingham, Day and Night Songs -- Autumnal Sonnet So... obviously I fail incredibly at life on a schedule. It works out, Ani apparently fails too because she hasn't been any better at this than I have. Protip: two people with an awesome idea and a whole lot of ADD between them probably won't do well on projects without someone who doesn't have ADD being involved. So, I'm going to go ahead and admit defeat on the actual challenge of 100 Pictures in 100 Days. I'll make a donation after the first of the year to a charity yet to be determined.
That doesn't mean I'm done with this site. The opposite, actually. I'm going to a 2 Photos-per-week plan. It allows me to continue to be easily distracted but still enjoy catching and sharing things being awesome. It's going to be a really exciting 2 months starting this week, and I won't limit myself to the 2-per-week plan, but I think it's totally doable and totally not something that my ADD will easily wash away. As a result of reducing the number of pictures, I'm not setting a deadline for the project. As of right now, it's indefinite. So, keep checking the Ordinary Somethings tab because I am still painting, and expect the next photo here Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Thanks for bearing with me, I hope I can make it worthwhile! |
The [Defunct] Challenge
The rules: The 100 Pictures, 100 Days challenge was a project between SomethingOrdinary.net and anitography.com. For 100 days, starting September 24, 2010, we had the goal of capturing beauty in ordinary things and sharing it through pictures. Archives
